BCA Section J is part of the building code of Australia dealing with energy efficiency for class 2 – class 9 buildings.
Certis Energy’s approach focuses on streamlined BCA Section J compliance through practical and cost effective solutions. We don’t just aim to get projects over the line at the end of the design process. Instead, we work with architects and designers as early as the concept design stage to ensure a commercially beneficial outcome. Our services are designed to fit the architectural and construction requirements of any project. (Melbourne BCA Section J JV3 Melbourne Canberra Sydney Brisbane)
Equipped with the relevant Australian regulatory compliance accreditations, ranging from NatHERS to NABERS and Green Star to BASIX, we are passionate ESD and Section J consultants with experience in Mechanical/Electrical and Civil/Structural Engineering.
Our services cover all aspects of the BCA section J compliance and other ESD rating systems, including the following:
Our highly specialised team operates nationwide. We have worked on several major projects in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, as well as projects in regional areas.

We also specialise in the JV3 verification method, which provides an alternative solution to the prescriptive Section J Deemed to satisfy (DTS) solution. The JV3 method provides more flexibility for validating a wider range of insulation and glazing options. It consists of creating a 3D model of the building using an accredited energy software. If the proposed building does not use more annual energy than the deemed to satisfy solution, the building is assessed to be section J compliant.
Certis Energy has Green Star Accredited Professionals, with comprehensive understanding of Green Star categories rating systems and rating tools.
With environmental sustainability being a requirement for all new projects, Certis Energy provides engineering solutions and options to implement various sustainable principles. We incorporate the current BCA Section J Compliance requirements, and where required provide accredited Green Star solutions to Building Fabric selections and implementation.
NABERS is a performance-based rating system for existing buildings. NABERS rates a building on the basis of its measured operational impacts on the environment, and provides a simple indication of how well you are managing these environmental impacts compared with your peers.
NABERS – the National Australian Built Environment Rating System – is a national initiative managed by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage.
